Screwed up a swim workout today for the better

A few months ago I bought a book called ‘Workouts in a Binder, Swim Workouts for Triathletes.’ It’s a nice waterproof book that includes a ton of swimming workouts (for triathletes! Duh!). It has been a while since I’ve been in the pool so I decided to ease back into the pool. I picked a workout and decided I’d do half.

Well, it turns out that of the ‘Main Set A’ and ‘Main Set B’ you’re supposed to pick one to get to the assigned distance. I opted for Set A and cut a little off the workout here and there. It called for a 300 yd kick, I did 100, it called for a 500 yd main swim, I did 250. The majority of the set was alternating sets of fast 75s with easy 75s. In the hot tub after the workout I started adding up distances and realized I’d swam 1900 yards!

I’m spent, but not beat down. It was a good confidence boost considering I’ve been battling boredom lately with my treadmill workouts.
