There is some good in the world – The Patriot Guard Riders

On the heels of the brutal slayings in Auburn and Chapel Hill last week came the news that the Westboro Baptist Church would be picketing the two memorial services of the two girls killed. For those unfamiliar WBC is not a church but they use high-profile funerals to voice their message of hate. (They’re kind of like the KKK but they hate EVERYBODY…really..everybody). So to insult the families of these girls they were on hand to picket at the funerals.

Fortunately there are some good people in the world…more after the jump..

The following is taken from a story from the OA News in Auburn.

Dozens of Patriot Guard Riders stood vigil, each holding a flag, across the street from Temple Kol Emeth, in Marietta, Ga., to block the Burk family and mourners from Westboro Baptist Church protesters whose signs read “God is Your Enemy,”……..To block mourners from the protesters, the Patriot Guard Riders, a group who attends at the funerals of soldiers to help block the view of protesters who may upset funeral-goers, held flags and formed a long line.

The Patriot Guard Riders were not “counter-protesting” the Westboro Baptist Church group, said Leslie “Cricket” Neely, a ride captain for the Patriot Guard Riders.

Tip of the cap and a nod of the head to those fine folks for helping strangers in a time of need.
